Joseph is a guy who takes up a large portion of the Book of Genesis. It’s the last part of the
Book. Joseph had a dream that God gave him one night, a literal dream. When he woke up, he
shared it with his brothers. The dream involved his brothers bowing down to him. His brothers
were very upset about it. They hated him because of his dream, the text says. They sold him
into slavery at one time. He finds himself in slavery in Potiphar’s household. He works his way
all the way to lead Potiphar’s household. He was the right hand guy to Potiphar. Then we saw
Potiphar’s wife come in and make an inappropriate pass at him. He refuses, but she gets enraged
and accuses him of making a pass at her. Now, who is Mr. Potiphar going to believe? Now
Joseph finds himself in prison for several more years. Last week we saw when all his dreams
were shattered, when everything was going against him, God moved in a mighty way. The
Pharaoh over the entire land of Egypt had two dreams. He couldn’t find anyone to interpret
them. His cupbearer had been in prison with Joseph and he remembered that this guy could
interpret dreams. Joseph is brought before the Pharaoh and interprets his dream. He interprets
his dreams to say, “Pharaoh, what is coming is seven years of amazing abundance and prosperity
followed by seven years of decimating famine. The famine will be so intense that no one will
remember the seven years of prosperity.” Then Joseph tells the Pharaoh, “I have a plan.”
